How can we help you save money on vet care?

doctor woenerWe understand that veterinary care can be costly, so we have identified ways we can help you save money on your pet’s health care.

○ When you adopt a cat or dog from Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) we offer a free initial wellness examination and 20% off all vaccines, dewormers and heartworm prevention products. We also offer a complimentary nail trim and ear cleaning if needed.

○ We have Preventive Care Packages for puppies and kittens so you can budget your veterinary costs for their early years when examinations, vaccines, deworming, and parasite exams are more frequent.

○ We offer discounted services to several local pet rescues to keep adoption fees as low as possible. PetConnect, Russell Rescue Inc, Jacks Galore Rescue, and Love Paws.

○ Most importantly, by offering quality, integrative preventive veterinary medicine, you can save money by keeping your pet healthier; which results in fewer veterinary visits for illnesses and injuries.

What is the Fear Free Experience and why is it better for you pet?

  • Many pets are fearful when taken to the vet’s office. Our goal is to create the best possible experience for you and your pet. Since fear in pets is triggered by visual stimuli, smells, noises and situations we try to minimize or manipulate these factors.

If your pet is stressed before they get to our office, please discuss this with us ahead of time and we can make helpful suggestions and develop the best plan for your pet in order to reduce symptoms of stress.

  • When your pet arrives at our clinic, we try to customize their experience based on their needs and preferences. For example, some dogs are seen on the couch in the barn aisle if they cannot tolerate confined spaces.
  • Additionally, we make our office as comfortable as possible and use padded exam tables for small dogs and cats and non-slip surfaces for larger dogs. We also diffuse essential oils into the air and/or directly onto your pet for enhanced relaxation.

We schedule our appointments to allow for more time so that your pet is able to adequately acclimate to the office before we start our examination.  During our exams, we utilize use fear-free restraint techniques such as offering lots of tasty treats or distractions with toys.

What is Preventive Medicine and Why Use It?

  • Routine wellness exams, immunizations, yearly lab work, deworming and fecal checks, as well as medications to prevent heartworm, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites are necessary to protect your pet. We carry conventional, as well as natural alternatives for flea/tick products.
    • Preventive care is tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, risk factors, and other elements. For example, we customize what immunizations your pet needs and offer titer testing to avoid under and over vaccination.
    • Part of a preventive health plan is determining the appropriate time for your pet to be spayed or neutered. We will discuss a plan that best suits your pet’s needs, and make sure your pet is healthy enough to undergo spay neuter surgery.
    • Prevention is the key to your pet’s long-term health, as well as minimizing the lifetime cost of care.
    • Preventive Medicine helps prevent common diseases or detect them at early and easily treatable stages.
