Unique Environment
Your journey to Tally Oaks begins with a drive through the picturesque countryside of Loudoun County, stone wall-lined roads, grazing horses and cows, lots of green and less traffic. Our clinic is conveniently located just four miles from the town of Purcellville, VA but it feels like you are immersed in country-living. The clinic is located on Dr. Woerner's personal farm. The parking lot was transformed from one of the horse pastures and the clinic is nestled within the barn. After pulling into the parking lot you will often be greeted by our very friendly barn cats and the horses may make an appearance especially if they sense carrots may be involved.
Once inside the clinic you and your pet will be escorted into one of our private rooms, skipping the noisey, crowded, stressful waiting room of so many of today's practices.
Inside our examination rooms we use essential oil diffusers for a more natural calming and pleasant aromatic experience and will customize the music upon request. Our goal is to provide a spa-like experience for you and your pet so you both look forward to the next visit! We are not your typical veterinary hospital! A beautiful drive in the country brings you to our scenic facility. We provide you and your pet with your own peaceful, private waiting room, in fact we try very hard not to keep anyone waiting at all! Enjoy a walk around our clinic and gaze over the horse pastures. Your stress level should dip even lower when you enter our exam and procedure rooms where soothing music is streaming and essential oils are being diffused into the air. We try to make your veterinary experience unlike any other. You meet one on one with the doctor and are present during any procedures where you can ask as many questions as you like!. We want to make sure you understand everything that is happening to your pet. If you are the pet owner that likes to be involved, we are the place for you.

Privately Owned
Dr. Woerner is very proud to announce that we are not a corporate practice and it will be obvious to you from the moment you walk into the clinic and meet us. We believe in customizing our appointments to the patient's needs and not rushing through appointments based on a pre-determined length from a rigid business plan. Being privately owned has many more advantages such as more personalized care, more flexibility in preventative plans and allows for more pet owner involvement and education.

Compassionate and fear-free handling
We believe that getting to know you and your pet by spending quality time together will make our relationship stronger and better decisions will be made that everyone is satisfied with. Since we are able to spend more time with you and your pet, we are able to employ more compassionate and fear-free techniques of handling. For example, most pets acclimate for at least ten minutes while we get a full history. After that we invite the pet to engage with us but if other measures are needed we have plenty of techniques to gently persuade such as tasty squeezable treats for kitties, frozen peanut butter mats and the always popular freeze dried liver treats for dogs. We also use toys as distractions and will handle all medium to large dog on a padded mat on the ground so they are more comfortable. Our goal is to make the veterinary experience as enjoyable as possible.
Honesty and Transparency
Transparency is probably one of our most obvious qualities. We encourage you, the pet owner, to be as involved in your pet's experience as you want to be. For example, we encourage owners to stay with their pet after it is given sedation in preparation for any routine surgeries or dentals as it is much less stressful for the pet. Some pets are better handled by their owners or at times we need to examine pets outside the office in the barn aisle or on a couch.
When it comes to honesty, the biggest mistakes made by most veterinary practices are to try to oversell their services and products, overwhelming the pet owner and making them feel quilty if they can't do everything recommended. We take an opposite approach entirely, and believe in customizing the recommended practices and products to the pets actual needs based on their age, breed, lifestyle, also taking into account the preferences and constraints of the pet owner.
At Tally Oaks Veterinary Wellness Center, we offer your pet a combination of holistic (complementary/alternative) medical care and conventional medical care. After reviewing your pet’s history, diet, lifestyle, and conducting a comprehensive examination, we determine the best combination of both forms of therapy allowing for a customized approach that is unique to each pet
